About me
Hi, I’m Terri, the face behind Oakyarde Cakes. I’m just a regular parent, like many others navigating the delightful chaos of raising a little one! And you could say it was the kids that got me into cake. It all started with my daughter, Ava, diving headfirst into a shop-bought cake on her first birthday. By the time she turned three, I was determined to bake her a homemade masterpiece for her next celebration. And that’s how Oakyarde Cakes was born!
Armed with determination, a sprinkle of creativity, and a ton of YouTube tutorials, I refined my baking skills. Ava’s fourth birthday cake was a proud milestone for me. It wasn’t long before my younger sister, bored during her maternity leave, stepped in as my unofficial manager and got me onto social media. With her encouragement, we took things up a notch, officially registering with the council, getting insurance, and adopting the name ‘Oakyarde’ from our family home.
Since then, I’ve whipped up hundreds of cakes, cupcakes, and sugar cookies. I taught myself the art of crafting fondant models and toppers, expanding the variety of cakes I offer. I have gained some lovely customers along they way who continue to trust me with their special events.
